THE ART OF PEACE

"THE CHILDREN SHALL WALK ON THE HILL"

These words were given to me one day by a friend. Neither one of us understood their meaning -until a few weeks later. I was asked by one of the teachers in the West Bend School District if some of her kids (high school) could come walk on the hill at the Shalom House. They did.

At that time - we learned the "Art of Peace".

·    By setting direction-intention for peace and compassion .
·    By connecting and walking in peace with the Earth.
·    By sharing freshly made soup for nourishment.
·    By providing a space to listen to thoughts and feelings.
·    By using the structure of the Practice of Council to honor the voice of the other.

Thing I learned today:
I can find my talents and find out what I am good at.
I sense things and shouldn't worry as much.
I learned how to be one with the Earth & to think "peace".
I learned how to relax.
I can try to find the whole truth in people.
Let everything out of my mind and think about the way I think and feel about things.
How to control my temper and remember I am here. Think before I do.
There are different ways to interpret the world.
I'll take things more slowly in life.
I will continue to take a walk peacefully.
I can go through life taking things one step at a time.
You can tell yourself you are home no matter where you are-
and it will make you feel comfortable.
